Cryptocoryne beckettii

George Henry Kendrick Thwaites and Henry Trimen, 1885

Distribution: Sri Lanka

C. beckettii, one of several ‘typical’ Sri Lankan species, is best identified by its flower in combination with the leaf. Identification can still be very difficult. The asymmetrical limb is often a  brown to yellow color, although reds and greens are not uncommon. A groove runs at the top of the limb. The collar is typically broad and high, and brown to red in color. The leaves have an undulated margin with darker transverse stripes, contrasted with  a rose colored underside.
